AUTHENTICITY OF THE PROJECT

The hypotheses and the authencity of the study should be put forward clearly. Also, new technology, method or theory’s contribution to the literature should be explained clearly. Children books can be considered as one of the factors from pre school which create a language atmosphere for the children. The importance and contributions of child literature products cannot be ignored in terms of their effects on language development. (Sever, 2003). This project is of vital importance since it examines these materials qualitatively and quantitatively.
The corpus linguistic studies conducted so far represents important grammatical findings for Turjish. Particularly, the comparison of TCLC with other corpora will enable researchers to identify the different points of child literature from general language. The conductor of this project has studies about adjectives http://derlem.mersin.edu.tr), adverbs (http://sosyalbilimler.cukurova.edu.tr/tez/1082/bülent%20özkan) and verbs (http://fiiller.mersin.edu.tr). These studies will also enable to compare and contrast for the identification of quality and quantity. Thus, the study is going to fill in a gap in the literature. As the study is conducted through a web platform with software support, it is supposed to bring new approaches. Furthermore, the project will be interdisciplinary as it includes not only linguistic experts but also software experts. On the other hand, the child literature products will be evaluated in terms of the external textual parts (style quality, cover), the properties of visuals (the number and type of visuals, the textual property of the visual, the harmony between contents and visuals, the visual-textual order), the preparation of visuals (graphic designer), the properties of line (the number and the length of lines in pages). Thus, Turkish Child Literature’s topography will be obtained, and a step for the standardization will be prepared.
With these things in mind, Turkish Child Literature project’s research questions are as follows:

  1. How is the primary lexeme in terms of language teaching in Turkish Child Literature?
  2. How are the readability of Turkish Child Literature works?
  3. How are the age suitability levels of Turkish Child Literature works?
  4. How are the lexical variance and lexical domain patterns in Turkish Child Literature?
  5. How are the morphemic, lexeme and syntactic structures in Turkish Child Literature?
  6. How is Turkish Child Literature in terms of internal and external elements?

Related with the research questions, the present project is supposed to fill an important gap. On other hand, the project will be of great heşp both nationally and internationally. Also, the project will handle more topics than the child literature studies which have already been conducted.
With all these properties, the project is first.
